ppp sessions dropping

I have been having problems with my line for a couple of months. I remaind sync'd to the exchange but I have no ppp session according to the most recent pn contact.
I have replaced my modem and tried my spare modem and 2 of pn's modems. My e and d sides have also been changed.
What is the most common cause for my drop in ppp session. My line shows erors every 204 secons and staus at last check was I beleieve amber.
Pn have now requested a lift and shift. Does anyone have any other ideas? get about 6mb sync when it's working which is most of the time with drops about every day or other day for a period of hrs until i reboot.

Re: ppp sessions dropping

There are a lot of potential causes for this type of fault. However a lift and shift does sound like the right way to go as faults like this can exist with how the cables are jumpered on to the line card and also with the ports they are jumpered on to. I'd be surprised if this doesn't help things.

Re: ppp sessions dropping

Cheers Adam,
just wanting to make sure I have done all I can. 4 routers, different filters and now a new e and d side and new box fitted in the house. Desperate to have a stable and consitient line.
The other half is fed up with me having to phone all the time to get things fixed and wants me to move bb. I just want it sorted an no more agro in my ear.

Why does everyone think it's a wiring problem if you are not dropping sync?

Re: ppp sessions dropping

I have found a few other mentions of ppp loss with 21cn:
http://forums.thinkbroadband.com/technical/3963772-advice-reqd-loss-of-ppp-session-long-post.html
I have a fairly steady sync and SNR just drops in PPP.
What do you think?

Re: ppp sessions dropping

Hi podman,
I've received your PM. I'm going to hold fire for now as I can see that an engineer has been tasked to perform a tie pair modify tomorrow. I've a feeling this may help improve the situation. If this doesn't help I'll speak with our faults team and see if I can push things towards a lift and shift.

Re: ppp sessions dropping

Not the same thing at all, a tie pair modify is when the line pairs at are changed over at the exchange and are rejumpered back on to the same port. A lift and shift is similar however the line is usually re-terminated onto a different port on the same line card or in some circumstances a different line card altogether.

could you please have a look at my account re this ticket. I have no feedback since Tuesday when i was advised it is back with the faults team.
Has my line stayed connected without drop in ppp?
Cheers,

Hi podman,
Just to let you know that it was a pure coincidence that you had an update 9 minutes after your post.
