Do you have a friend where you can take your laptop and see if you can stream there

Hi,
This page - http://www.kitz.co.uk/adsl/frogstats.php - has the instructions you need for a good number of popular routers.

Re: online streaming failing

Jason,
Does your router provide more details pease?
Need to see attenuation, noise ratio and error counts to assist further.

Re: online streaming failing

Depends on your router.  If is the TG582n supplied by PN, click details towards the top right of the stats page.

Re: online streaming failing

OK, if I take these figures at face value, then you are nearly living in the exchange - 0.5km away.  Your synch rate is down 20% on forecast for the attenuation figure.  Error counts are high, but I cannot say if they are significant, but for the reported up time the DS FEC errors are around an average of 140 per second.  Some suggest that the TG582n can over report FECs, though I have seen TGs ground to a stand still serving FECs.
Is your router connected into the master socket?  Is there any noise on the line (dial 1700 option 2).  Do you have a new filter you could try?

Re: online streaming failing

That may be the problem - the FEC in relation to the amount downloaded looks very high
This is from my router
Uptime: 2 days, 5:29:58
Data Transferred (Sent/Received) [MB/GB]: 272,02 / 1,99
FEC Errors (Up/Down): 4.276 / 1.366.839
By comparison you have 16 times the number of FEC for less uptime and about half the usage
If Plusnet increase the default noise margin to 9dB it will slightly reduce the speed but hopefully will  reduce the FEC count
In the meantime what is the noise margin late at night

Re: online streaming failing

to be honest i wouldn't want my speed reduced and at night i'm not really sure and yes the router is connected to the master socket (its the only socket i have in my place) and i don't have a home phone to test the noise
