one month now

well its one month since my connection has halved
previous stats  were .... sycn speed 2400 , line ip 2000 and snr 6db
current stats are  ...... sync speed 1024, line ip  750 and snr 12db
last week i had a BT engineer fit a new master socket  due to a dodgey one and he tested my line error free with a sync rate of 960kbps  Roll_eyes
but he said some cables are been changed near the exchange and should be done by the weekend ........
any chance of PN admin checking if they have finished and if so why my line is still suffering poor speeds as all my equipment is fine and line confirmed
having a slow speed
many thanks  Cry

Re: one month now

Keep an eye on your connection for the next couple of days - it it stays continually connected you could request a SNR reset which will put the snr back to 6 and the sync speed back up to where it used to be.
It should do it automatically, but it takes a painfully long time!

Re: one month now

after a phone call today from PN i was told that 960kbps line speed and an ip 750 was acceptable for my length of line
even though i have been with PN for 5yrs with an average line IP of 1500 and the past 8months an ip of 2000  Roll_eyes
if it doesnt get sorted im going down the mifi route or another isp

Re: one month now

63.5  with a noise margin of 6db ( or it allways was ...12db now)
my uncle nextdoor has an attenuation of 62  but he is with talk talk and syncs at 2200/2300kbps

Re: one month now

Hi snipperuk,
as jelv said, If I snr reset we'd probably get the sync a lot higher. I would be happy to try that if the line has been fixed.

Re: one month now

http://www.kitz.co.uk/adsl/max_speed_calc.php only takes whole numbers, for 64 it predicts a sync of 1792 with a 1500 IP Profile.

I am getting seriously unimpressed with CSC.

Re: one month now

Hi snipperuk,
I'll give it a go but if it goes back up again then there's nothing I'd be able to do about that. Also remember that the line will go into the 10 day training period.

Re: one month now

Hi snipperuk,
your profile is now 1500 and SNR 6dB. It's showing a lot of errors though so I'd imagine that may creep up a bit.

Re: one month now

thanks jojo
just checked and the noise margin is 6db so half what it was but my sync is the same  Undecided
Connection Speed 1056 kbps 448 kbps
Line Attenuation        61 db 15.5 db
Noise Margin              4 db 19 db

any ideas why the sync speed hasn't moved ?
thanks snipper

Re: one month now

Hi snipper,
when I tested it just after the reset it was1856k but there were a lot of errors, so not sure why it's dropped again. I've just tested and got an SNR of 8dB, which will account for most of that. To be honest, bearing in mind you are in the test socket and have tried different filters, have you tried a different router?

Re: one month now

Hi snipper,
I'll see if I can find out more about that cable laying. It does sound suspiciously like it could be something like that causing it.
