no router arrived 27 days after joining, cant contact plusnet

If this is for fibre you can temporarily connect direct to the OpenReach modem: http://community.plus.net/library/broadband/fibre-help-how-to-set-up-a-pppoe-dialler-in-vistawindows...
For ADSL, if you have a router from a previous ISP that allows you to set the user name and password you should be able to use that.
