Re: new router, very low speeds :(

To be honest, gaming uses such a low amount of bandwidth, I wouldn't expect you to nice ping issues with a 1Mbps connection.
Glad you're latency is good though Smiley

Re: new router, very low speeds :(

yeah it is good.
i think this case is one of those strange dsl cases that come up every now and then.
or windows has gone ultra wonky - this is the most likely scenario Sad

Re: new router, very low speeds :(

which is a pity.
well the speedtest says it is busy at present.
but downloads are looking better - getting upto 400Kb/s download speeds now.
last night  it was awful.
maybe because i updated mobo drivers this morning. (brand new mobo, with brand new nic, fitted that yesterday).
will try and get some proper speed testing done.
will update asap

Re: new router, very low speeds :(

latest from the bt speedtest site :

Test1 comprises of Best Effort Test:  -provides background information.
IP profile for your line is - 6500 kbps
    DSL connection rate: 448 kbps(UP-STREAM)  8128 kbps(DOWN-STREAM)
Actual IP throughput achieved during the test was - 1130 kbps

it is as though something is sucking 80% of my bandwidth somewhere.
has anyone got any further ideas?

Re: new router, very low speeds :(

I have turned off ipv6
I have turned off the zyxel router firewall
I have turned off windows defender
I have turned off windows firewall
and still slow connections.
downloading a 100Mb test file from an ftp server I was getting 25Kb/s.
downloaded ea stores download manager at 75Kb/s
where is the bandwidth?
I need some serious help

Re: new router, very low speeds :(

Hi Zippy,
You would only need to leave your router turned on.  We just need to be able to see your connection being online so that we can run various tests.

I think you need to make sure your router is configured to accept ping from the net for this purpose.
