new TG582n router same as old one?

hi i just have a bit of confusion
i have orderd my new fiber broardband and was asked if i wanted to order a new fiber router as i would need a "fiber" one
what arived is the same make and model as my old one (technicolor TG582n) but it has a red sticker on port 4 and paperwork says the engineer will brin another box to adapt my line
is it actualy diffrent or did i not need to buy a new one?

It has different firmware. Your old router would only work on ADSL lines, your new one is set up to act as a router only where port 4 is configured as a WAN port which will be connected to the modem supplied by BT.

Yes it is different, the "engineer" will bring a modem you can then connect the fibre router as per
http://www.plus.net/support/broadband/hardware/technicolor-582n-fibre-setup-guide.shtml
My installation was very easy.

At least you might be able to flog the old one to a mere mortal still on ADSL!
