Hi can anyone help? I'm trying to log on a Compaq Evo with a Micronet LAN PCI Adapter using Windows XP .
Drivers are installed and the computer sees all the local networks and my own, but refuses to log on to my Thomson Router.
I'm using the correct key, but it simply won't play ball. My laptop an E System EI 3103 running Windows Vista, logs on fine.
Am I just being thick? Or am I missing something?

A couple of possibilities come to mind:-
How old is the LAN PCI Adapter ? , if its fairly old ( or an old driver! ) there's a possibility it doesnt support WPA/WPA2 PSK security. Try changing the router security to WPA only. If it doesnt even support WPA you could try WEP but TBH that's pretty insecure so I would suggest getting a new wireless card that does support WPA.
Try changing the default SSID on the router from PlusNetWireless... to something smaller, some wireless cards have issue with long SSID's.

Thanks, I've changed the settings and that works, but intermittently drops in and out, even though there is a strong signal from the router.

Check that the router has the latest firmware, there's been some issues with Wireless on the Thomson routers recently, firmware upgrade can sort some of them out. See this thread http://community.plus.net/forum/index.php/topic,92497.0/topicseen.html
and the firmware upgrade page http://community.plus.net/library/hardware/how-to-upgradedowngrade-the-firmware-on-the-thomson-585v7...
