loss of signal when using android on wifi

Hi,

I have an android motorola phone and a Plusnet Hub One router.  I am on partial fibre and then copper.  My laptop works fine with wifi but my mobile phone drops the call if I answer it when either the TV or the laptop is switched on.  To make a phone call reliably I have to sit right next to the router even though my laptop which is 20 feet away works fine.  Even if TV is off and laptop is off the phone is still very dodgy.  My partner has full fibre and the only way we can talk reliably without getting cut off or having a delay or an echo is for me to switch off wifi and talk using 4G.  My phone I see uses 2.4ghz as does the laptop,  I don't know if 5ghz would help or how I make it switch to that.

Has anyone any ideas or suggestions?

Many thanks

Have you tried using WhatsApp or similar to make calls?

Yes same thing it either refuses to dial the number or drops out during the call
