level3 doing a site seeing tour of london currently

Trace looks fine and the ping response times nice and consistent......  What are you experiencing?

Slow downs when one or more or the hops spikes, normally I see at most 3 hops for level3, 7 is not normal

Re: level3 doing a site seeing tour of london currently

A jump from 3 to 7 hops is nothing really.  You're passing through hundreds of devices before you get to level 3 already.
You're seeing lag spikes and at the same time a corresponding spike in the traceroutes?  Able to show that?

I can understand his concern - strange Level 3 routing is sometimes a precursor to it packing up altogether!

Oh, me too.  I'm not convinced we're getting a good service of them, but I want people to talk about their experience, rather than just publishing traceroutes like that because there is nothing wrong with the traceroute Cheesy

Re: level3 doing a site seeing tour of london currently

The slow downs were the reason I did the trace, I didn't catch it as it happened though.  Normal experience would be for the game client to check for updates and present the login screen after about 10-20 seconds, what happened was it took 5 minutes just for that to happen.  Once in game I asked if anyone else was having the issue and no one except for Euros did, the servers are in the US.
Once in game joining matchmaking games was problematic with sessions timing out.  So I did a ping trace and a wireshark, with the only thing out of the ordinary was the Level3 routing, the wireshark was normal with the game in platinum queue.

What game was it?
I've downloaded LOL based on the other threads and level3 possibly being involved.

Re: level3 doing a site seeing tour of london currently

That could be still level3, i.e. the hand over to tinet is the issue
