laughable speed results.

Thanks to news.bbc.co.uk today I found the following site that aims to run a speed test and then allow you to compare it to the speeds of your neighbours. www.top10-broadband.co.uk
My result was 9.35mb which is strange considering my sync is 5728Kbps Second test gave 9.5mb
Guess some companies could use these unreliable results from here to make their services look good.

it gave me 1.6mb download, and 0.4 upload.
My line syncs at around 4.5mb,  and my profile is 4mb I think.  So either that's wrong, or i'm still getting slow naff speeds.
It also claims fastest in my area is Virgin.  er.  We can't get cable.  the nearest is around 5 mile away.
Next is 02 at 6.5, and talktalk at 3.8
Plusnet comes out at 3.3mb.  A bit of an increase from my 1.6 download.  Naturally I don't believe these results, but do believe there's still odd speed issues at the moment.

It gives me 7.5Mb off a 4,320 link.
Also it shows a house up the road from me as having a Sky connection which downloads at 85Mb and uploads at 58Mb. Almost next door is a PN connection running at 0.7Mb!

Gives me 3mbps Down and 600kbps Up (that's accurate - I'm on Max Premium) - This is on a line that syncs at the full 8128 however
@SteveA - I'm almost certain that whoever tested that Sky connection will have been running Kaspersky AV - it has a habit of grossly over-inflating speedtest results for some reason

Impressive 11.2Mb on a current 7976 sync, with a 5500 profile.
It is clearly bollox
EDIT: I've just used their contact system to question them on it.

Looking at the results for my area and figures posted here I get the impression they are stating "uncompressed" throughput using "compressed" files for transfer 
They may even be using different files for different suppliers - using a compressed (but "empty") Word 97 file could change the speed by a factor of 20
