keep losing internet connection

Got a new computer a few weeks ago running windows 7. Occasionally internet would disconnect for a second saying changes in network were detected. Then a couple of days ago it started cutting me off for longer and saying ti was connected to my network with no internet access and connecting or connected to an unknown network verifying. I have gone through the windows troubleshooter several times and unplugged and replugged the router several times but it is still happening. Haven't had the unkonw network message yet today but have lost internet access once already. Am getting a new router anyway but does anyone have any ideas what I can do meanwhile? I have a lynksys wag160n.

Re: keep losing internet connection

It could easily be a problem with the network adaptor on your new computer rather than a problem with the router.

Re: keep losing internet connection

any idea how I could find out and fix it? I've stopped it connecting to the unverified network, by disabling wireless

Re: keep losing internet connection

Hi there,
Below is a graph of your connection where you can see that your router keeps dropping connection.

Have you been able to try your new router yet?

Re: keep losing internet connection

hi, that's interesting as I updated the network adaptor driver on Sat and didn't notice any dropped connections then or yesterday so thought the problem had been fixed. However it has now started paying up again. Am waiting for new router.
