Re: interleaving

Hi Anotherone
Sorry mate had to read back through the posts should have done it yesterday  Roll_eyes still in holiday mode....
I'll start getting the RSL program up and running tonight when I get in is it mac or pc only ?
I only have an old bt router a white one and a sky segem router.. Both of which are locked to the provider ? I think
How long shall I run RSL before I post the stats ?

Re: interleaving

Hi, RSL is PC only I'm afraid. A 2hr graph from hours of darkness and when you can similar from daylight.

Re: interleaving

It should automatically have saved the 2hrly graphs if you set it up right, just check they have been, before you stop it. Otherwise if it's not, then check your setup. If there aren't any graphs to date you can capture one immediately by right clicking and selecting 'Capture now'. You could then post that so we'd see something. You can put a max. of 9 graphs attached to a post, if the daytime ones are looking very flat (no spikes or variation) you can miss some of them out, or just do them all over 2 posts.
To attach things, either use the 'Reply' button below the last post, or 'Preview' if you typed in the 'Quick Reply' box, and you'll see the + Additional Options and Attachments...  click on the + and you can Browse/Choose the files from where they are saved - click on (more attachments) ofr the 2nd and subsequent ones.

Re: interleaving

Nothing really out of the way there, but it would be interesting to see a couple before the 0628 (ie ~0228 & ~0428) just to get a better feel for night time variation (if you've got them). Also the next one this evening (~2027). There appears to be a small amount of cross-talk possibly (slight steps up and down in the average plotted value) it might be a small amount of interference, but doesn't look to be anything to get excited about.
Stats as well, always a good thing to post in situations like this.

Re: interleaving

Nothing too unusual on those DS  plots,  but I should have spotted on the last ones no US plot.  Sorry,  right click on the SNRM graph and select Plot Upstream Noise.

Re: interleaving

Don't forget to post stats as well Wink
Now I was/am expecting the US to be possibly somewhat messy, but I have noticed that the US SNRM has risen compared to previous stats but also perhaps more significantly, the CRC error rate seems considerably lower than the last stats were showing.
We will have to see how this develops as it suggests that something has changed over the last 2 days.

Re: interleaving

Quote from: Oldjim
That is very interesting and confirms something Anotherone said a while back
Interleaved upstream doesn't always limit the speed to 888kbps

On my line (Sagem 2704n and Broadcom MSAN), upstream was limited to 888Kbps when the US interleaving depth was set higher. DLM lowered the US interleaving depth and the upstream increased to 1.1Mbps. DLM in all it's wisdom has decided to remove interleaving from my line at the moment, which has lost me around half a meg, so I can't give you my exact figures as an example at the moment.
On my Mum's line however (Sagem 2404 + Broadcom MSAN), you can see similar results:
Rate (Kbps):
DS: 14382 US: 1144
D (interleaver depth):
DS: 64 US: 4
Delay (msec):
DS: 8 US: 6
I've asked for interleaving to be re-enabled on my line, as due to it's length (40db) it seems to achieve a higher sync rate with it on. Hopefully it won't come on with an crazy high depth, and I'll still get the 1.1Mbps upload (which is slow enough as it is!). I'll report back when interleaving comes back on.
