iPlayer download capped?

When I first went on the ADSL2+ trial a few months ago iPlayer conent downloaded at full speed (I get the full 24mbps connection and a 21000 IP profile) but recently downloads seem to be capped at 8mbps.  What's going on?

godsell it wouldnt cap at 8mb on the 0x60 queue other wise my 3mb line wouldnt have had problem with streams being picked up as 0x60.
these are the speeds 0x60 traffic gives on my unlimited package which is way lower than 8mb
starting at midday ending midnight
2Mbps 2Mbps 1Mbps 756Kbps 512Kbps 756Kbps 1Mbps
but still OP check what prioity the downloads are with wireshark

I've left a message with Dave to try and find out if we do have any rate limits on iPlayer traffic, but I didn't think we did.

Okay, this is interesting.  The 8mbps was before 4pm.  As we tripped over 4pm the same downloads have fallen to ~500kbps.

Yep, the iPlayer packets have Differentiated Services Field set to 0x60.
Other stuff... music streaming from another machine on my local network is 0x00 as are the ACKs.

The DSF is set by the Plusnet network to prioritise your traffic so LAN traffic won't have that set.

whats the incoming packets marked as on streaming?
as jelv says disregard any out going packets as they havent touched the PN network yet
not sure if iplayer downloads are suppose to be 0x60 or 0x80. but streaming should most defo be 0x80

That's intentional. You'll only get 24/7 line speed on iPlayer downloads with a Pro/PAYG accounts etc. Some changes that may have made this more noticeable came into affect around the end of April.
