iPlayer borked if you update Adobe Air

Users who have upgraded to the latest version of Adobe Air may not be able to download new programmes, including series catch-up downloads and any programmes already downloaded may have disappeared. Devices with Adobe Air version 3.4 installed are unaffected.
Resolution of this problem is of the utmost priority for the iPlayer team and we are working with our service partners to deliver this at the earliest possibility. Since the problem was first reported we've investigated and looked at our various options. Unfortunately, we believe a proper fix could take a while to roll out.
As an interim measure you can restore Adobe Air 3.5 to the previous version... use another download option or use the streaming service. Other download options are for Windows Media Player, Portable Devices and for iOS devices (iPhone, iPad, and iPod touch).

Re: iPlayer borked if you update Adobe Air

I covered this from my Apple OSX perspective in this  thread from last week, but many points are also relevant to PC's

Which included this...

After a recent "auto" downloading Adobe Air v3.5, BBC iPlayer stopped downloading with error messages.
(29th October 2012 as I opened up BBC iPlayer)
I didn't download for a few days, so the obvious reason wasn't !
I eventually traced problem to the v3.5 Air update, and reverting back to v3.3 and v3.4 cured the problem.
I had to use the Air uninstaller first to remove v3.5, and also a file manager air search, as the uninstaller wouldn't at first.

There was a similar problem in June 2012, whereby BBC & Adobe didn't talk to each other when incompatible updates were issued.
One week later, there was an update to BBC iPlayer & Adobe Flash that cured the different problem then, a blank screen on replay, full screen

and this...

There is now a statement about this, from the BBC.

The important part of the statement...
BBC iPlayer Desktop - Why am I unable to install new content and why have I lost downloaded content since installing the latest version of Adobe Air?

***Updated 09 November 2012***
We have replicated the fault and are currently in discussion with our service partner in finding a resolution, which occurs if the latest version of Adobe Air (3.5) is installed.
If you have Adobe Air 3.5 Installed you may not be able to download new programmes, including series catch-up downloads and any programmes already downloaded may have disappeared.

Re: iPlayer borked if you update Adobe Air

There has been an update to Air from  3.4.0.2540   to   3.4.0.2710 which is now available (Auto download when BBC iPlayer opened)
Seems to work OK.
