I have recently changed my Plusnet password and Plusnet have acknowledged this and I can log in to their site on my desktop computer (Mac Mini). However I cannot receive emails on my iPad, although I can send them.
I get the message : ’The mail server mail.plus.net is not responding. Verify that you have entered the correct a/c info in Mail settings.’ I have checked the a/c info (IMAP) in Mail settings and it is correct, although you cannot display the password, just a series of dots. There are 13 dots, although my acknowledged Plusnet password consists of 12 characters. I have entered the correct password repeatedly but I get the same message in response.
What to do? Delete the IMAP a/c and reinstall it with the correct Plusnet password? Or is there another solution?

It would do no harm (it's IMAP so the mail lives on a mail server) to delete the account and start again on the iPad.
You can add a duplicate copy of the account without deleting the first one which might be a reassuring way of doing it.
Two things I would also suggest.
1) Log on to webmail using a browser on the iPad (checks account and password OK)
2) Set up IMAP on the Mac Mini using the Apple mail application (if you don't already use that)
