My web page: http://www.dougrice.plus.com/Erlangs/adsl_Appendix.htm has a section "Appendix: Master Sockets and my diagrams:"
It shows that the bell wire on the New NTE5 is filtered by an inductor, effectively disconnecting it to Medium Wave radio signals that are picked up on the bell wire.
The I plate has this inductor to "disconnect" the bellwire for medium wave interference picked up on it.
My bit load spectrograms are interesting and show that "disconnecting" the bell wire allows more bits to be sent.
If you disconnect the bell wire, some phones, but not all phones, need a micro filter with a bell capacitor in them to if you want the bell to work.
Unfortunately, not all micro filters are the same circuit and I can appreciate Anotherone's comment. See my section: "Appendix: This filter has four connections on the plug and passes the bell wire straight through unfiltered, with no bell capacitor"
My bit load spectrograms are much more stable after I disconnected the bell wire. My down stream speeds have also been slowly increasing up to 7616kbps.
Thanks every body!

If you want to go for a filtered extension plates have a look at these -
http://www.clarity.it/xcart/product.php?productid=16144&cat=263&page=1
http://www.adslnation.com/products/xtfspec.php
There is also one from Solwise ADSL-FFP85D but I'm sorry I'm just not impressed by a number of Solwise products, which also can only cope with a maximum REN of 3.3 ringer loading. There are a number of other brands out there some of which may be of dubious quality, some of which may be fine, but if they don't state that they meet BT spec SIN346 v2.2 (preferably later version) don't touch with a barge pole!
You don't have to buy direct from Clarity or ADSLNation, there are plenty of stockists of their products off and online, just search out what suits you best.
