how does transition from one provider to plusnet work?

supposed to be changing over before midnight tonight.

the internet from my old provider has just suddenly stopped.

i plugged in the plusnet router but keep getting a red light above 'internet'

is this normal? how does it work? when can I expect my internet to resume?

it says something about wait 15mins. is that with the internet on a red light or does the red light mean even if you wait 15mins nothing is going to change?

weird how no matter what time  you call there is always a ''15 min'' wait for customer support. it's almost as if they just make you wait that long no matter what so you are discouraged from calling.

well no internet from old provider and no internet from plusnet. Great work UK telecoms industry. 1st world prices for 3rd world service.

Re: how does transition from one provider to plusnet work?

do you have to wait for an email saying your broadband is ready to use? will that be separate from the ''your home phone is ready to use''? could avoid alot of confusion by making it clear exactly what to expect and when.

all i got was an email saying the service would complete sometime before midnight. would be good if they made it clear if you get an email telling you exactly when the broadband is live.

all I know so far is the internet has stopped from the old provider and not working with the plusnet router

You need to wait for a message telling you the broadband is working.

Also, unplug your router until you get the message as your connection may be erratic during the changeover/their testing (before the message).

If you don't get a message by the morning, pop back on here and I'm sure one of the PN staff will assist.

No problem.

(as I mentioned above if it isn't on by the morning then let us know)
