help with poor speed

running btspeedchecker my download is only 800k against a possible 7M for my area. My profile is set to 1M. My router stats are:

System Up Time 01:25:13
Port Status TxPkts RxPkts Collisions Tx B/s Rx B/s Up Time
WAN PPPoA 13247 17128 0 709 3305 01:24:44
LAN 10M/100M 3611 357 0 80 10 01:25:12
WLAN 11M/54M 23788 16692 0 3445 780 01:25:09
ADSL Link Downstream Upstream
Connection Speed 7616 kbps 448 kbps
Line Attenuation 18.0 db 11.0 db
Can someone tell me is the problem with my line, router or plusnet for my slow speeds. Previously with Orange I had over 2Mps.
If it is my profile how do i go about getting increased.
Noise Margin 13.5 db 22.0 db
thank you

Re: help with poor speed

Hey there,
Can you try going to http://www.speedtester.bt.com for me and tell me what the profiled speed shows up as?
I'd suspect it's just a profile mismatch at our end, but unfortunately the reporting we get from BT isn't showing anything for your line.

Re: help with poor speed

Great, thanks Smiley
I've matched the profiling at our end to be the same as BT (6500Kbps).
If you reboot your router, it should be quite a bit faster.
