has plusnet restricted by download speed

for the last few days my download speed has gone from 6mb to 0.2mb
and my upload speed is still the same at 0.3mb. and its any time of the day or evening

how long does the www.speedtester.bt.com/ take, as I have tried a few times but it never completes just hangs on the “checking user details page”
and I live in the Wombourne area code CMWOM

Have you hit your usage allowance? You get limited to 256kbps until the end of your billing period if you do.

I did last month and paid the extra £10 for it as wall, as my download manager never got it right on the timing and my  bill date starts from the 13th of the month and i'm well under so far, but no email to say thats what there going to do.

Had any recent disconnects?
What does This Say? it should say 5.5mb or 6.0mb obviously - anything else and this could be the problem

done a few speed tests in the last couple of days and there all the same

I assume that the IP profile will be the same if you can ever get the speed test to work

indeed, so its not plusnet restricting your download speed, but the DLM (equipment at exchange)
This means you've had a low sync event (e.g. lots of interference has caused the connection to drop)
Hopefully you've not been whacked on a banded profile, as this will be much more stubborn to clear.
Speed should pick up again after a day or two of "normal" sync speed (might be worth giving the router a reboot if you havent as yet)

edit: for most people its best to do the resync event between about 8am and 2pm, as thisi s when there is the least interference so you get the best sync rate (it may however cause a further drop to a more stable rate)

and just done another speedtest.net check and its back to normal

Your line is dropping a bit more than it should be, are you plugged into the master socket (or test socket if possible) with a single filter and no extension leads?
What are your router stats showing now? If you're using the router we sent then this link should get them for you.

Hi Chris    Having done all the checks spoke to Plusnet yesterday they say its seems to be with the BT exchange and they will look in to it,
Have tried a few tests this morning and the download speed is the best its ever been

my normal DL speed is between 6 & 7 mbps and today its 10mbps
so fingers crossed it stay that way  and  Thanks for your help
