Hi All
I am finding that using the internet especially in the evening is becoming very difficult as it gets so slow. Usually there is only one machine online at any one time altho we do have a couple of laptops connected by WIFI which suffer exactly the same, the main pc is wired connection direct to the router. Ironically one of the slowest sites seems to be Plusnets own including webmail!
Router stats are as follows:
Uptime: 0 days, 12:50:03
DSL Type: ITU-T G.992.5
Bandwidth (Up/Down) [kbps/kbps]: 1,123 / 10,311
Data Transferred (Sent/Received) [MB/MB]: 227.73 / 816.53
Output Power (Up/Down) [dBm]: 12.6 / 0.0
Line Attenuation (Up/Down) [dB]: 19.9 / 36.0
SN Margin (Up/Down) [dB]: 7.1 / 6.4
System Vendor ID (Local/Remote): TMMB / ----
Chipset Vendor ID (Local/Remote): BDCM / IFTN
Loss of Framing (Local/Remote): 0 / 0
Loss of Signal (Local/Remote): 0 / 0
Loss of Power (Local/Remote): 0 / 0
Loss of Link (Remote): -
Error Seconds (Local/Remote): 613 / 0
FEC Errors (Up/Down): 0 / 0
CRC Errors (Up/Down): 239 / 873
HEC Errors (Up/Down): 280 / 4,488
Ping:

Ping statistics for 212.159.13.50:
Packets: Sent = 4, Received = 4, Lost = 0 (0% loss),
Approximate round trip times in milli-seconds:
Minimum = 11ms, Maximum = 13ms, Average = 11ms
BtW test results:
Download speedachieved during the test was - 8.61 Mbps
For your connection, the acceptable range of speeds is 4 Mbps-21 Mbps.
IP Profile for your line is - 9.1 Mbps
Upload speed achieved during the test was - 0.84Mbps
Additional Information:
Upstream Rate IP profile on your line is - 0.83 Mbps
problem persists whichever browser is used. Cookies etc are cleared about once a week sometimes longer using CCleaner.
Downloading files is fine and will max out the connection at around 1MB (note capital B!)
Have tried changing to OpenDNS on router but has made little or no difference.
Machine is Windows 7 with all upgrades
8GBRAM and 4th gen i3 processor
I don't believe this a line problem as such, maybe exchange congestion?
Any help/ suggestions appreciated
John

Are those tests/tracerts etc all from when you were experiencing poor browsing? I can't see anything wrong with them at all 😕

Hi Chris
Thanks for reply.
Yes those are the stats for a typical evening when browsing websites is very slow. Any other machines on the connection also suffer the same not just main pc. As results look good dont really know what else to do, as I mentioned I dont believe there is a line fault so dont want to report it as such and get an engineer out to be told theres nothing wrong.

I've checked the VP capacity from your exchange and it's showing fine, no congestion reported, which I kind of expected based on the speeds not changing at all.
Could you try a pathping to an affected site and paste the results.
