firmware upgrade problem

hi
i was reading up about the slow upload speeds ect and as im a new customer and i believe my broadband is not ready as of yet that i could do the firmware upgrade anyway. ok heres the problem i am connected to the internet using a orange dongle i have loaded up the setup page for my thomson v8 router all works ok apart from the internet connection (as its not ready yet it says not atm on my dsl line). ok i have it connected both wireless and ethernet to my windows vista samsung r510 laptop i have downloaded the flash thing and also the firmware upgrade i followed the instructions and i get this message.
the upgrade process failed
you can try
click back and retry the upgrade (done this 4 times)
power cycle device and restart wizard (only just turned it on to do the upgrade)
then it says to see thomson user manual or contact the service provider????

HI madcarlos85,
Once you've downloaded the file onto your machine, take the dongle out, disable the wireless and just have the ethernet plugged into your router, you should then be able to upgrade. If not then factory reset the router and start again.

thanks jojo that worked have done the firmware update thing now. just waiting to be properly connected now although i am confused as i had a message on my phone saying it would be active on the 28th but on here it says the 29th so which will it most likely to be? its all ready to go just the atm on my dsl line apparently (whatever this means lol)

broadband light stays green all the time but when i try the internet test on the thomson gateway it says no atm on dsl line is that normal?
