Re: fibre speed and sync speed

Unbelieved that FTTC speed will be higher than slowest ADSL (up to 8Mbps)

Re: fibre speed and sync speed

i think that the estimates are a bit irrelevant as for adsl it says 4-5 and i was on a nice rock solid 10.5 connection with adsl24 (now coms), even plusnet estimated 1.5 for fibre and i get 7.5, are you sure that my line profile is set up for fttc as i had a brief flirt with bt once and perhaps my profile has remained from that time?

Re: fibre speed and sync speed

What are your current speeds at?
Is it higher since the engineer changed your line to a different port?

Re: fibre speed and sync speed

Everything on our systems and our suppliers systems appear to be set correctly.
Of course the speed estimates are only ever estimates are especially with FTTC are based on the length and quality of the copper cabling (not forgetting potentially aluminium cabling) between your cabinet and your premises.
The Speed Estimates are relevant as it's the only thing we can go from when offering a product to you.
Much depends on where exactly your FTTC Cabinet is located, many assume it's located in the same location as ADSL. When FTTC goes through planning, permission has to be granted by the local authorities for the cabinet to be installed at a particular location so very likely to be located in a different place to the ADSL.
If you'd like to move to ADSL, you'd need to speak to our Customer Options Team on 0800 432 0200 and they will be able to discuss your options to this regard.

Re: fibre speed and sync speed

ADSL is no way faster than FTTC.

Re: fibre speed and sync speed

That'll be because the CVLAN for the upstream hasn't updated properly yet.
The IP Profile will adjust itself at some point.

Re: fibre speed and sync speed

In my opinion and if I were you - for the price difference, I probably would go back to ADSL if I'm honest.
There's not much of a speed difference. It'd just require an engineer to go out to switch things back over to ADSL, so not a mammoth task really.
You'd need to speak to our Customer Options Team just to get your account sorted out though so we can get you moved back to ADSL.
Ultimately, it's your decision on where you'd like to go moving forward.

Re: fibre speed and sync speed

spoke to plusnet this morning about going back to adsl and they informed me that my profile was still on adsl and not fibre, he has made the change and told me that it could take 2-3 hours to see a difference.
i will believe it when i see it....
