extending wireless & wired access to more of my house.

So, I've  got one of those properties with 4-foot-thick stone walls (bad for WiFi)  and a complex series of electricity circuits  (making power-line networking impractical). I do have a network cable running from one end of the house to the other. I want to use it to create a wired access point and wired-wireless-hotspot at the remote end of the building. Before I start, I have two questions:

1) Do I have the best router that PLUSnet supply (6NGW)?

2) What network extender hardware will give best results with this router?

Thanks for any advice

Duncan

Please excuse my ignorance, what's 6NGW?

As you'll be using wired backhaul to connect the hotspot, what router you already have wouldn't affect the performance of other hardware.

If you need multiple WiFi access points (APs) and want WiFi clients to be able to move (roam) between APs without dropping out, you'd need hardware with 802.11r support. You can find more information about improved roaming in this post https://community.plus.net/t5/My-Router/DrayTek-Vigor-130-with-Plusnet-One-Hub/m-p/1730471#M18149

Thanks for your comments.

PLUSNET 6NGW is  on a label on the back of the router. I am guessing that is the model number.

To me it looks more like a serial number. The latest routers Plusnet provide I think are Hub One for VDSL2 (FTTC/Fibre), 2704n for ADSL2+ which can be found on https://www.plus.net/help/broadband/router-user-guides/

Hub One is better than 2704n, but it's not provided to ADSL2+ customers. According some posts, Hub One could be bought from Plusnet, but it's a little expensive, it's cheaper to buy from ebay.
