If you put your phone number into the BT availability checker here does that give you a date?
My exchange started accepting order in March this year with a few cabinets close to the exchange progressively made live. I'm a little further away and my cabinet is yet to be installed, though a planning application has been raised for it. The checker says May 2014 for me.

I guess it's possible that there is no plan for certain cabinets if there's no demand.
When I was house hunting, there were some areas who could get fibre for last year, and some still without, all on same exchange.

BT availability checker shows no dates, my exchange just turned from coming soon to accepting orders so i was just wondering how long the roll out could take, i thought that if they were accepting orders then they would be upgrading the cabinets but i didn't know the timescale

Even if the exchange is Fibre enabled that's no guarantee when or even if *all* the cabs will be enabled unfortunately.

FTTC cabinets are usually installed area by area over several months (depending on the size of the exchange), then the fibre has to be installed from the exchange and the cabinets powered and commissioned.
Usually, as soon as the first batch of cabinets are on line the exchange will be shown as accepting orders but it could be several months before other areas connected to the same exchange have their FTTC cabinets installed, connected and working (and, as Chris says, some cabinets may never be connected to FTTC - BT Openreach generally only connect those where they are reasonably sure enough people will take up FTTC service to ensure a return on their investment.).
