Re: email password rejects

Looks like IMAP is OK, but POP3 is intermittent. It's not mentioned in the service status, but might have something to do with the power failure.
I've just raised a ticket (26179316).

Re: email password rejects

I just got the email (via gMail) telling me about the power cut, so all explained.

Re: email password rejects

Is this why I keep being asked for my network password this morning? I've never understood why this popup appears every so often, though less frequently than it used to.

Most likely, yes.

Re: email password rejects

I got a quick answer to my ticket, but the person who answered doesn't seem to be aware of the power cut causing problems.
Having said that, everything seems to be working OK now.

Not everything, as I can't get access to phone call or VMBU stats - is this likely to be related to the earlier power loss problems?

Re: email password rejects

VMBU seems to be working for me.
The Home Phone side of things doesn't appear to be healthy yet.
http://portal.plus.net/supportpages.html?a=212 does work if you were referring to that at all when you were talking about phone.

VMBU says
Quote
Summary Sep 02 2008
Broadband Your Way

You don't have any usage data to show right now.
This might be because your account is new, or your usage has been reset for a new billing month.
It can take up to 2 hours for your usage to show up - please check again later.

but my billing date is the 21st of each month.
I'm sure I've had this problem before and fixed it after advice on this forum. Couldn't find it on initial search, but will try again.
Its my home phone account that I can't access. Never found the page in your link before, but I can see the benefits.  Cool

Re: email password rejects

Sorry, when I said "everything seems to be working OK now", I was only referring to the subject of this thread, not the wider problems. Sorry.
I've just checked the service status page again. It refers to a power-outage in Sheffield. Unless I'm being stupid (which certainly is possible), I'm sure it said London when I checked earlier, but I can't see any reference to a power-outage in London now.

Hi all,
Sorry about this. There's currently issues accessing the Plusnet website and our CSC guys are also unable to get into the workplace backend systems.
The website is starting to come back up now but unfortunately the Java servers haven't failed over so there's no access to signup or faults. It does, however, appear that you can log in to the members centre.
Basically there's been a power failure at the main server suite in London and as above some of the servers didn't fail over to the backup location. We''ve got network engineers on site and will post further as soon as we get any more information.
We're sorry for all this hassle, guys.
Thanks,
Matt

well what did happen, the PN service status index items are interesting.
A - for last night - the web services will be off  http://usertools.plus.net/status/archive/1220283322.htm
B - it was a power failure in Sheffield http://usertools.plus.net/status/archive/1220344695.htm
well did the planned experiment work or did it all go wrong
PS still cant get details of home phone usuage
