eMail spam filter and forums

Hi
Of late I have found it impossible to register on several online forum sites because no emails get through the default spam blocker.
I always use new aliases for these and make sure I wait 30 minutes or so after setting up - I can't whitelist the senders address as I don't know it - the adress isn't always from the same domain as the site.
Is this just me?  If so I'll raise a ticket - or have others noticed this.
One example http://www.banditforum.co.uk/forum - registered yesterday - no email - registered again today with my gmail account and got instant notification I had registered.
Cheers

I had this trouble a while back and this was the result of the investigation

Re: eMail spam filter and forums

Was that when the spam filter was Ironport or Postini -I've switched my "Discard Obvious Spam" off for now and may try again - I also haven't had Martin Lewis's Money Saving Expert newsletter for months now - despite White Listing his domain - does White Listing actually work?

You're right that the email doesn't get past the IronPorts.

I've checked with http://www.blacklistalert.org/ the two domains mentioned in the headers - both are OK.

Re: eMail spam filter and forums

I take it (I am not an expert) that this suggests badly configures

Re: eMail spam filter and forums

I think I need to raise a ticket here as it is very strange
On one forum when I changed it to a relatively new alias emails fail  - even with non discarding of obvious spam - but using an older alias, going to the same box it works.
Further test show that new aliases simply DON'T WORK AT ALL!!!  Angry ticket raised
Strange

Re: eMail spam filter and forums

Have you checked you have 'catch-all' switched on?  If not, have you set up new aliases individually using Manage My Mail in the Members Centre?  Surprising how many people forget this....
Best wishes
Chris
