eBay speed and Akamai

Not sure whether this should go here or in Web & Internet forum  - no doubt a mod will move it if necessary.
I've noticed how slow eBay seems to be these days -- pages take a very long time to load.
I happened to load tcpdump and saw that eBay pages seem to be served from Akamai servers -- which I know are rate-limited by PN for at least download purposes.
I realise that the PN rate-limiting techbology should only affect downloads but wondered if there might be a connection?

Re: eBay speed and Akamai

I'd noticed the same and switched to OpenDNS and it seems to be loading slightly faster. Though still slower than a lot of sites.

Re: eBay speed and Akamai

The security issues were fixed in version 9.63 - see here (follow the "advisory" links).
Every browser has had security issues at one time or another.  IE is well known for its vulnerabilities and Firefox isn't immune either - see here.
As always, you need to keep up with the latest updates to make sure you're as secure as you can be!

Re: eBay speed and Akamai

Remember that many of the images you may see on eBay may be hosted by the seller on one of the many 'download sites' so a BBYW account may see these pages download slowly as a result.
