download speed cut by two thirds

I just checked my download speed on this: http://www.mybroadbandspeed.co.uk/ and it's been consistently around 6783 kbps but tonight it's dropped to 2632 kbps.
Is that just because it's friday night or something?

Impossible to say with so little to go on. What is your router sync rate?

Also as the message says, it may not be accurate. What does speedtest.net give?
