disastrous upload speed but normal download speed.

Hi all, I'm having a huge problem with upload speed. I basically cannot do anything at all besides surfing web and downloading things like crazy.
I cannot game, I can't do video or even voice calls or else the connection would drop.
I've tried rebooting the modem, changing routersplitter, changing wifi channels and even the test sockets but everything seems the same.

Re: disastrous upload speed but normal download speed.

Nothing to obvious there except your upload speed is rather low - in fact very low for the sync
Can you try this speed test http://www.thinkbroadband.com/speedtest.html?utm_source=mainsite&utm_medium=navigation&utm_campaign=... and report the results
Also can you install Networx http://www.softperfect.com/products/networx/ and see if there are any uploads running on your machine
A further thought - do you have any other devices connected to the router
If so can you disconnect them and run the speed test again
You can also ask for the upload to be uncapped which will give you a useful increase in sync speed but this may not solve the underlying cause

Re: disastrous upload speed but normal download speed.

Also, do you connect to the router wired or wireless? If it's wireless could you run the speed test wired please and post the results.

Re: disastrous upload speed but normal download speed.

Thanks - thats confirmed one thing. You need to ask Plusnet to uncap your upload which will give you upload sync. We still need to look at why the actual speed is nowhere near the sync.

Re: disastrous upload speed but normal download speed.

The speedtest that you gave me got stuck at stage 3 stating that they're initiating upload test. it says it takes a few seconds but its been some time  Sad
There's nothing else connected to the router besides my phone which i switched off the wifi but still doesn't help a bit.
i'm installing networx now

Re: disastrous upload speed but normal download speed.

Do you remember how long ago you rebooted the router as the error secs look very high

I rebooted it  yesterday afternoon I think. Then I changed the splitter after realizing it didn't help.
and the last time it rebooted was when I use the test port in the main phone line thing.

Re: disastrous upload speed but normal download speed.

With NetworX right click on the icon and select show graph
This will show if anything else is hogging your upstream bandwidth
That many error secs in that time is indeed high and may be part of the problem
I have 1,544 in 18 days

What can I do to fix that?
I attached the networx graph down there.
