did something happen (on the way to the forum) overnight 12-13 Apr 2022?

FYI, I checked the broadband status for events in past 24 hour , nothing.

I'm used my Vigor 2860 dropping an restabilising the line , I lose showtime. I always get emailed syslog events (down & up) about a minute apart. This one was odd in that, it was down for an hour but my traces show it maintained SHOWTIME throughout and quite good speeds.

Logs type call:

Time Log Type Message
Apr 12 23:16:04 Call PPP Closed : No Echo Response (PPPoE)
Apr 12 23:16:28 Call PPP Closed : LCP Time-out (PPPoE)
Apr 12 23:16:29 Call >>> Dial-up triggered by user : 192.168.1.151 ; proto=UDP, to 8.8.8.8 port=domain

type wan:

Apr 12 23:17:23 Wan WAN1 PPPoE ==> V:1 T:1 PADT ID:0

above repeated a lot, then :

Then later:

Apr 13 00:43:23 Wan WAN1 PPPoE ==> V:1 T:1 PADT ID:0
Apr 13 00:43:35 Wan WAN1 PPPoE ==> V:1 T:1 PADT ID:0
Apr 13 00:43:47 Wan WAN1 PPPoE ==> V:1 T:1 PADT ID:0
Apr 13 00:43:47 Wan WAN1 PPPoE <== V:1 T:1 PADO ID:0
Apr 13 00:43:47 Wan WAN1 PPPoE ==> V:1 T:1 PADR ID:0
Apr 13 00:43:47 Wan WAN1 PPPoE <== V:1 T:1 PADS ID:7205
Apr 13 00:43:47 Call PPP Start (PPPoE)
Apr 13 00:43:47 Wan WAN1 PPPoE ==> Protocol:LCP(c021) ConfReq Identifier:0x00 MRU: 1520
Apr 13 00:43:47 Wan WAN1 PPPoE <== Protocol:LCP(c021) ConfReq Identifier:0x7F MRU: 1500 Authentication Type: CHAP 05 Magic Number: 0x7c366a20
Apr 13 00:43:47 Wan WAN1 PPPoE ==> Protocol:LCP(c021) ConfAck Identifier:0x7F MRU: 1500 Authentication Type: CHAP 05 Magic Number: 0x7c366a20
Apr 13 00:43:47 Wan WAN1 PPPoE <== Protocol:LCP(c021) ConfAck Identifier:0x00 MRU: 1520

Just the call records:

Time Log Type Message
Apr 13 00:43:47 Call PPP Start (PPPoE)
Apr 13 00:43:50 Call CHAP Login OK (PPPoE)
Apr 13 00:43:50 Call IPCP Opening (PPPoE); Own IP Address : xx.xx.xx.xx Peer IP Address : 195.166.130.254; Primary DNS : 212.159.6.9 Secondary DNS : 212.159.6.10

But , as can be seen , SHOWTIME maintained.

My guess would be the DSL is running fine but plusnet shut things down at the IP level...but nothing in plusnet status?

Hiya @graemev

Thanks for getting in touch, I appreciate it.

Looking at it, it's most likely to be maintenance at the exchange occurring Smiley

I would give it until this evening, and only raise a fault if things don't improve then.
As @SammyM said, just maintenance and it should have gone within an hour or two.

When I walk past local exchanges I look to see if any vans are outside. 🙂

It only lasted an hour, outside of that it's been fine.

Just curious error, given the "level" it occurred at ... thought maybe some central kit (Radius etc) gone down
