I am trying to connect to a POP3 account at customermail4.easily.co.uk however from here I cannot get connected. If I try various web POP3 test sites they seem to connect ok, and several of my colleagues also connect and receive e-mail without any problems.
Can someone else try to connect to the server at the above address and let me know what they get.
I am trying to find out if it is an Easily problem or a PN problem or something at my end that is causing this.
Thanks in advance,
R.

Try a reboot of router and PC.
Try disabling any firewall or A/V software.

None of which has helped.
I will continue to try and talk to Easily about the problem, although they seem useless with customer support, I just get the same old check your settings. answer every time.

Open a command window by clicking Start > Run, typing 'cmd' (minus the quotes) and clicking OK.
Try telnetting to the mail server:
C:\Users\Bobby>telnet customermail4.easily.co.uk 110
Press enter and what's returned? You should get something like the following:
+OK Hello there.
Next type:
user <your email username>
Replace '<your email username>' with your Easily username. Press Enter, and you should get another confirmation prompt. Next type:
pass <your email password>
Replacing the obvious. Press Enter.
How far through the above process do you get before encountering errors?

Yes it's definitely a connection to the POP3 server I am having problems with.
I have been using Telnet to test the POP3 connection from several machines here on my network, all fail to connect.
However if I try Telnet from my server hosted externally, I can connect no problems, and several external POP3 test tools seem to think the mail server is fine.
The thing is if it was something on this computer that is stopping port 110, or generally stopping POP3 access, I would expect all POP3 accounts to fail, but I am receiving email on several other POP3 accounts external to PN.

Results from nslookup below from both customermail4.easily.co.uk and mail.plus.net,
C:\Documents and Settings>nslookup customermail4.easily.co.uk

192.168.99.1 is obviously my router IP so cannot have it's name resolved.
I can telnet to the plusnet POP3 servers and to an external server at 217.35.90.xxx I run for another company.
As shown below,
C:\Documents and Settings>telnet customermail4.easily.co.uk 110
Connecting To customermail4.easily.co.uk...Could not open connection to the host
, on port 110: Connect failed
C:\Documents and Settings>telnet mail.plus.net 110
+OK Hello there.
quit
+OK Better luck next time.
Connection to host lost.
C:\Documents and Settings>telnet 217.35.90.xxx 110
+OK Microsoft Exchange Server 2003 POP3 server version 6.5.7638.1 ready.
quit
+OK Microsoft Exchange Server 2003 POP3 server version 6.5.7638.1 signing off.
I have concealed the IP of the email server from the external company I deal with.
The only one that seems to be affected from here is the customermail4.easily.co.uk one. It's all a bit strange.
