cant access my home network from the internet

Ever since getting a static IP my home network in inaccessible form the internet

A tracert gets as far as 84.93.253.144 and then stops

This looks like its in the plus network as the previous ip's are plusnet urls.

I have tried calling support and just get cut off because they are always too busy.

This connection is useless to me if i cant access it!

Re: cant access my home network from the internet

What device(s) do you have connected to your Home network that you want to access?

Nothing on your LAN should be accessible from outside the network unless you have configured it yourself.

Re: cant access my home network from the internet

Unless there's something on your home network to accept the access , and you have suitable port forwarding on the router then you won't be able to access it.

Assuming you have the standard PlusNet Hub One router, then by default it won't respond to a ping on the WAN , hence the tracert failing.

Re: cant access my home network from the internet

I have tried a router and a raspberry Pi

Both connected prior to asking for a static IP

Re: cant access my home network from the internet

That's exactly what you would expect if the router doesn't respond to a ping from the WAN.

Re: cant access my home network from the internet

@AlanLane1  I don't know what fixed it but I'm 100% certain that Plusnet had nothing to do with it. They are hardly visiting the forum these days and the chances that they spotted your post and fixed things around 15 minutes later would be similar to winning the lottery jackpot.😀
