Interesting that my BTw test shows the below, now - it used to show considerably lower figures, although I can't remember what hey were, I haven't looked since before I moved.
Note also, that the max observed of 80 is impossible - I'm on a 40/10 connection.

John, not sure exactly on the theoretical bit, some is a percentage of the max expected speeds, but they too alter and are affected by your actual sync speeds. Mine also showed a max of 80 - 20, but it seems the router I was using got slower over the years and dropped to about 76. However a new router after a nearby lightening strike took it out and I am back up to the max.
With your checker, there is an anomaly as with all restricted packages, so does not show 40 10, but does show what your sync speed could be. It is not even the max rate. All a bit odd really, but worth watching out for - there was another similar example recently.
So not sure who told you not to bother with 80 20, clearly you now would get close to that - maybe everyone around you has gone FTTP and so reduced crosstalk or something!!

OK, @Mustrum - but why is it showing an 'observed speed' of 80Mb/s - where is it observing it - certainly not on my Fritz. I've just run a couple of speed tests on my TBB account, and they were both around the 36.5 area, with u/l around 9 - so where does this 'OBSERVED' speed come from, or am I being spectacularly dim tonight? 😀
Don't want or need 80/20 (or the added cost )😉

@jab1 Other routers show max speeds, your Fritzbox alas does not show that. But if you had a spare HH5/PN Hub 1 the Help Desk Tab would show that if it worked with your ISP 😉 The checker is not an exact science, just a bit of a guide..
Anyways, we are getting a touch off topic!!

Fair enough, @Mustrum - but I'm still confused as to where the BTw test is observing those 'max observed' figures? 😕 - No matter.

@jab1 Well there are only two devices capable of producing those figures, the customer router, or the DSLAM port and they must match each other. But in your case, and anyone else on 40/10 there is then a 40/10 cap put on the link, so it is the max available speed that is shown.

John, OK. thanks for that, so your upload max speed match the observed speed, but as your download max speed is well above 80Mbps, the computer can only go to 80, After that all I can offer is have a look at every DSL Check you can, logic may not apply, but it is what it is is the best I can offer.
