billion 8800nl r2

HI just bought a Billion 8800NL R2 I went through the set all seemed straight forward DSL light came on fine then internet light came on for a short period , then no internet light at all looked at the system log and found this

Aug  6 07:20:12 daemon err syslog: pppd:Couldn't create new ppp unit: Inappropriate ioctl for device

Aug  6 07:20:12 daemon notice syslog: pppd:Couldn't reset tty to normal line discipline: Bad file descriptor

any clues ?

I believe the 8800 supports VDSL (for FTTC) as well as ADSL.  Have you set the DSL parameters correctly, for example PPPoA rather than PPPoE?  Just thinking it might default to VDSL settings.

I updated the firmware unticked most of the connection options and it connected ok but still not too impressed with it's performance but I'll leave it to settle for a few days to see how it goes
