bbc i player 0x60 on 21cn trial

I'm still looking into that, according to the monitoring we had quite a bit of spare capacity all night and there were no latency spikes and no traffic being buffered and yet we were seeing packet loss on the host link. We have a reboot scheduled for THN-AG2 tomorrow morning as part of the fix for the latency issues which could be related:

but I'm looking to see what else could be causing it as it might be the packet loss was within the BT side of the network in which case BT will drop any type of traffic and from any customer, whereas if we were dropping it we'd drop the low priority traffic first. I've got a case open with BT to see if the traffic was being dropped by their policer in which case it may be that the bandwidth increase hasn't been set right somewhere.

Hmm I see - well thanks for the info Dave; I'll keep an eye on iPlayer next time I try to stream anything in the free hours and see what happens.

Hum iplayer on the f1 stream was being picked up as 0x80 midday but now in peak time its back to 0x60.
This lime an akami being used for iplayer is completely new to me. before i just thought bbc ran there own stuff
no packet loss on icmp pings tho

I used get_iplayer and got 5000Kbps - not bad considering the speedtester says around 5500Kbps is max.
PS no DRM; no expiry period

yes evil. i should know about your way of getting iplayer downloads as it must be the 100th time ive seen you post about it
are you on the trial and what speed you getting on streaming ( one of the legit ways  that is ;D)

Results are looking much better for me tonight:

Download Speed:	3965 kbps
Streaming Speed (1):	4042 kbps
Streaming Speed (2):	4051 kbps
Streaming Speed (3):	3837 kbps

I keep banging on about get_iplayer because it's so much better - sorry.
Yes I'm on the 21CN trial - but all I get is a measly 6Mbps download speed - I can get 6.5Mbps on ADSL MAX
How can I get a streaming test that outputs a number?
Generic or Linux please - and not one that involves installing that crock of **** called AIR
BTW the BBC streaming content is really poor quality - even their so-called HD flash is only laptop quality (seen it once, never again).
I'm looking for wide-screen 1600 x 1050 quality on Linux - and I don't believe flash can do it.

At risk of repeating myself, use http to do a download, then play it back.
No DRM, no time-limiting, no need for flash and no need for nibbles.
Oh yes, your download runs at the full speed of your connection.
But if you absolutely must use flash, get_iplayer will download about 6 streams in parallel,
join them all up for you and save the resulting mess on your disk.
Because you're intercepting the flash output there's no DRM or time-limit

thats all good and well evil and thanks for the advice.
but this thread is trying to get iplayer traffic picked up right on 21cn. so people with less knowledge than your self can use iplayer the way its intended to be used ie without any work arounds on any DRM rights.
PN whats the story with this akamai and lime ip's being used in the evening?
streams have been un usable since the weekend

My household has found streaming from the iPlayer ove PN and wireless to an old Windows laptop to be playable.
So for me iPlayer is "usable". -
