Re: adsl speed problem

Welcome to the the forums @szgabri . Normally, for a problem such as yours, I would post a little guide I have created, but as you have kindly posted in your question some of the information I would normally request - wish every one would - I will just ask: Have you done a Quiet Line Test on your phone - dial 17070, option 2. you should hear nothing during this, other than a repeated 'Quiet Line Test' message. ANY noise, and report a phone-line fault to your phone provider.

From the data supplied, the significant figure that I see is the D/S SNR figure, one as high as that points to a major problem, and explains in part your horrendous downstream rate, and possibly the upstream, as that SNR also looks high given your attenuation.

When you have done the QLT, report back with the results, and I'll see if there is anything else I can think of.

NOTE: I am not PN staff, just a customer like you.

Re: adsl speed problem

EEEK! That is a major problem - without eliminating the voice side of the connection first, you are not going to get much luck resolving the ADSL side.

Any chance of borrowing a phone for 10 minutes from a neighbour?

Re: adsl speed problem

I think I'm not the only one who don't use a phone on the line, and the the isp can and should check the line, i did everything what is expected, checked the cable, replaced the microfilter, plugged the router into the test socket, the problem is not inside the house.

Re: adsl speed problem

I appreciate you are probably not the only one who doesn't use the land-line - I don't, for outgoing calls, but do have one connected for incoming ones or situations like this. Yes, the ISP can check the line, but under the current situation, it is faster for the customer to eliminate the voice side as a potential problem - your chance of PN even looking at this topic is remote, given their vastly reduced staffing levels at the moment. Is PN your phone provider, BTW?

As you say, I too suspect the problem is external, but you do need to eliminate the voice side before a broadband issue can be resolved.

A basic phone is about £5.00 from the likes of Argos.

Re: adsl speed problem

@szgabri If you are still watching this thread - as all my suggestions seem to have fallen on deaf ears, the only other idea I can offer is that you contact Plusnet on 0800 432 0200 and explain your problem.
