access point question

What is the point of a 300n access point if it has a 100 mbps ethernet port on it
Surely you are then limited to 100 mbps!!!!
So no benefit over a 150n access point
What am I missing?

Re: access point question

A 300n will just about max out a 100Mb ethernet connection due to WIFI overheads, the 150n (at 75Mbps each way, less overheads) is less than fast ethernet (100Mbps each way).
Plusnet Fibre (Sep 2014), Essentials (Feb 2013); ADSL (Apr 2009); Customer since Jan 2004 (on 28kb dial-up)
Using a TP-Link TD-W9980 modem-router.

Re: access point question

thanks
so it might be worth getting an access point then as at the moment i only connect at 130 mbps as this is the routers default and changing it to 300 comes with warnings about interferinng with other wifi points
thanks again
