The Pug sorry, Plusnet UserGroup item, under 'P' can I ask how, and I quote;
'PlusNet plc Network Investment Summary'
is an abbreviation! Change it to PNPLCNIS (pron. Pin-Plic-Nis)
And I used numbers, you are allowed them in posts  Smiley

I think says it all. As to the use of acronyms, they can soon cause confusion with their multiple meanings. In one job I held which was customer facing we were particularly told not to use them. Even the notes we left on customer accounts had to be in long hand apart from a few acronym's that were accepted by the company.

Sorry but that's not true.
It has been common practice to use acronyms in electronic messaging for probably the last 25 years or so. They are not something new and certainly did not stem form text messaging. IMO, they should be part of the learning curve and should most certainly be continued to be used in electronic messaging.
