a bit of a speed problem

hey guys
i have a bit of a speed problem at the moment it may or may not be because im on my first 10 days.
i have moved from sky connect as its the worst service i have had the misfortune to use in my decade of using broadband. anyway enough of the moaning and on to my problem
im currently syncing at 8128/448
my ip profle is 7150
but im only getting around 2meg in download speed. this aint too bad in games etc but im was wondering as ive had no change i can see after 75 mins or indeed after 3 days or 6 days for that matter. im just worried that after 10 days im going to be capped at 2 meg . other than this i cant complain the service is very reliable ... go plusnet!

Re: a bit of a speed problem

Does the BT Speedtester also indicate a 7150 IP Profile?
If it's different to the PN one, the lower one will apply.

Re: a bit of a speed problem

Hi leejonoloughlin,
Are you doing these tests with a wire or wireless? If you're using a wire then have a look here for some tips.

Re: a bit of a speed problem

im on wirless atm and im using a filtered faceplate but no more than 2 meg
im guessing its the 10 day period
another thing i found was on my switchover day i found that both my sky and plusnet router would log me onto the different infastructures ie both the sky with the sky routers and plusnets with my new router.  i dident think this was possible ie 2 wires for broadband for one carrier signal but i may be wrong.
anyways i really cant complain with the service as my ping in games is alot lower and i dont die a death at 5pm. one thing i do know was that on sky id hit my peak at around my line profile ish when i wasent being traffic managed, but seem to only hit 2 meg on plusnet. ill go and have a fiddle with the wired setup and see if it makes any difference
i was just expecting a similar speed all the time rather than dying a death at 5pm , so ive got 2mb which is rock solid Smiley
now to chase the other 4-5 ... here wittle bandwidthy coooie

Re: a bit of a speed problem

Hi leejonoloughlin,
If it's not settled after your 10 day training period then we can take a look further but it may well have sorted itself out by then.
