Re: Yes, additional speed issues.

HI Lotusxyx,
Now that's clear then, I'll look at sorting your speed out. Watch this space!

Re: Yes, additional speed issues.

Hi Lotusxyx,
Your SNR was really high at 34dB, probably because of you phone fault. I've now reset the SNR to 6dB, so once that takes effect you should see an increase in your sync rate, which will then increase your speed profile.

Re: Yes, additional speed issues.

OK, speed has been appalling for nearly two days now

While the ping has improved, the overall download rate has left much to be desired.  I appreciate that there is a teething period whilst setting up a new connection, but surely it shouldn't be this bad for this long?  I'm having trouble simply enjoying my time on the internet.  I've just returned home from a night shift and it is at this time (while overall traffic should be completely low) that download speeds are the most valuable to me.  After all the hassle of switching over, it can't be too much to ask for a stable connection at three in the morning?

Has the fault on your phone line been fixed yet?  Your broadand speed will just follow a downwards trend until it is.

Re: Yes, additional speed issues.

Try the quiet line test. Dial 17070 and take option 2 - there should be no background noise of any sort. If there is it is absolutely pointless complaining about the broadband speeds until that is fixed.

Re: Yes, additional speed issues.

Just performed a quiet line test, and there's some intermittent static noise coming across.  It was perfectly clear yesterday, as stated.  The CS advisor said that the issue could be relateed to the weather - and it is overcast and raining today. Could that be a source of the problem?

Re: Yes, additional speed issues.

It's almost certain that will be the cause - especially if your telephone wire is from a pole when the affect will be seen almost immediately. Water can also get in to underground lines.

Re: Yes, additional speed issues.

Is there any way to address the issue, or something we just have to bear with?

Re: Yes, additional speed issues.

Raise a phone fault with Plusnet - you don't have to put up with it.

Re: Yes, additional speed issues.

HI Lotusxyx,
Your line had been banded, so the sync rate wouldn't have gone above 1152k. I've had this lifted now and your sync is 6744, so when your profile lifts you should see a profile of 5500.

Re: Yes, additional speed issues.

Lost Internet connection again just now (using 3G ATM).  It is failing to connect to both the primary and secondary DNS servers.   Are PN's DNSs down?  Any expected time of recuperation?
*EDIT*  Well, the internet is back, after a fashion.  I have ridiculously inconsistent connection, as well as terrible speeds.  Took about 10 minutes for the 'modify' page to load on this message.  What on earth is going on?

Re: Yes, additional speed issues.

Plusnet's DNS servers seem OK to me.
The connection test page on the TG585 router, always shows red crosses against DNS - it's a reporting problem, not indicative of a fault with DNS.
Just tried post "modify". Loaded normally for me.

Re: Yes, additional speed issues.

Hi Lotusxyx,
I think the best thing to do at this time is to update your fault ticket so this can be investigated further.

What do I have to do to update the fault ticket?

Re: Yes, additional speed issues.

If you go to http://contactus.plus.net and view all open tickets there, there should be a button that will let you add a comment to the fault ticket on there.
Hope that helps,
