Ye olde Broadband Premier acceptable usage?

I'm curious, because I have started using the Internet backup service Mozy, I've been uploading shed loads of files recently. I'm on the  Legacy Broadband Premier tariff. The community pages say that the usage limits are:

  • Acc. Peak Usage 30GB

  • Acc. Total Usage 100GB

Page = http://usergroup.plus.net/prod_home.php
I wanted confirmation so raised a ticket. PN Support now say:

Thanks for getting in touch,
Peak time usage on your account is 20GB with a three tier traffic management at 13GB 17GB and then at 20GB. At 13GB there is a slight reduction in speed. At 17GB your speeds drop to around half and at 20GB you will be restricted to 128K until your next billing date.

Where did the figures on the community page come from? Which is the right figure? Right now I'm up to about 15GB but don't seem to have been slowed.
Pete.

Re: Ye olde Broadband Premier acceptable usage?

Pete,
You're kinda confusing SUP (sustainable usage policy) with usage allowance.
SUP was enforced if you went over 30GB peak or 100GB total, meaning that your speeds were then restricted.  Thisd is no longer in force.
Premier now has a usage allowance of 20GB with speed restrictions being applied after 13GB.  There is no set limit to off peak downloads.
Let me know if you need anything else.

Re: Ye olde Broadband Premier acceptable usage?

Thanks James,
You can see how I might get confused.  Crazy
Now I understand that page http://www.plus.net/support/broadband/products/archive/broadband_premier_archive.shtml applies.
20GB peak usage with speed restrictions at 13, 17 and 20GB. No restrictions off peak.
Would I be better switching to BBYW Option 3 and saving a couple of quid?

Hi Pete,
I've just had a look at your usage over the last three months and I'd say the answer is definitely a yes Smiley
