Re: Would a faceplate filter improve my speed?

This might be an utterly unhelpful post, but would it not be easier - if a bit more expensive - to shift the router to the master socket where you get 14Mb, and get a couple of Powerline plugs instead?
sorry if that's no help.

Re: Would a faceplate filter improve my speed?

Yes, but the third extension was running from extension 2, and has now been disconnected.
The other sockets were inactive when the front plate was off the master socket.

Re: Would a faceplate filter improve my speed?

Moley, I actually bought a couple of powerline adaptors a few weeks ago, but could not get them working with my system.

Re: Would a faceplate filter improve my speed?

@moley,  the wiring is now fine.
@DaddyG, it does look as though the Target SNRM has gone to 12dB with the consequential reduction in sync speed to 8867. We'll see if one of the DCT could post your Connection chart (PPP radius log) and if there are no disconnects over the weekend showing your line is stable, you could ask for an SNR reset.

Re: Would a faceplate filter improve my speed?

There haven't been any disconnects we've seen since around 10am yesterday morning:

Re: Would a faceplate filter improve my speed?

Many thanks for that Chris. Any chance of an SNR reset now then, it's looking pretty stable? The recent disconnects have been because he's been altering wiring.

Re: Would a faceplate filter improve my speed?

Thanks for that.  Smiley
Also, I've just found out there is no PPP disconnect on my bloody router, so won't touch it over the weekend.
10am yesterday was when I checked the master socket and it disconnected.

Re: Would a faceplate filter improve my speed?

I think one point that is being overlooked, tidy as the wiring now is, is that it's still "star wiring" with ADSL present on multiple extensions.
You WILL get a better result if ONLY the one extension has the ADSL signal on it.
So, going back to the original question and now we understand more of what you have, the answer is YES, if you proceed as follows:
1. Install a filtered faceplate which has BOTH filtered and unfiltered connections on the back.
2. Connect the phone-only extension to the filtered terminals
3. Connect the router extension to the unfiltered terminals
4. Retain a filter at the extension socket by the router
As I think was noted earlier, the extra 15metres or so should have negligible effect, unless it's untwisted cable.

Re: Would a faceplate filter improve my speed?

Thanks HP Sauce. Would the option of running cat5e from the master socket be even faster than that?

Re: Would a faceplate filter improve my speed?

Star wiring makes NO difference HP. That wiring standard is fine.

Re: Would a faceplate filter improve my speed?

That's brilliant, it just needs your Current Line speed (Login required) to be updated.
