Re: Wireless issues with Thomson v8 (after firmware upgrade) Updated.

Further report:
The Thomson V7 router arrived on 30th Sept and put in service the same day. I have run this and the Netgear DG834G for over 2 weeks now and held a stable connection with none of the speed problems when the Thomson V8 was in use. Smiley
The Thomson V8 seems to develop the speed fault condition after running continuously for several days, this suggests to me an overheating issue but more exhaustive testing would be needed to prove this. I will definitely not be putting the Thomson V8 back into service and you are welcome to have it back!

Re: Wireless issues with Thomson v8 (after firmware upgrade) Updated.

Hi there
Am to having the same issue with two thompson v8 routers.  The upload speed is very slow wireless, plug the ehternet cable in and it fine.  The details of the router second router sent are as below.  I report the fault online and was sent another router. It was another v8 router.  Some timesafter a reset I can get the wireless to speed up again for a short while. At the moment it a lost cause.  Speed can range from 24kbps to 348kbps after a reset.  I have no other router to try as my last internet provider was a modem.  Please can someone help me.

How long would you say that it takes the speed to degrade once you reboot?

Re: Wireless issues with Thomson v8 (after firmware upgrade) Updated.

It can take several days before it shows any issue.  The router look as it loss connection and when comes back up the upload speed then goes.  Most of the time if I reset from inside the router status page, It can bring the upload speed back to normal for a while.

Thanks for the offer Pete, I could probably get my hands on some 2nd hand ones but don't really want to send those out as a solution.
I'll sort that out for you Jamie.
@jra1234, any issues we had like this with the router and wireless printers seemed to be fixed when we issued the new firmware, which your router already has. When you lose connection, does the printer still show as a connected device in the router?
Jojo Smiley

It does show as connected. A re-boot of the router solves the problem for a while - could be 1/2 day possibly a day but is it back. Is use Canon MP640 wireless, Dell XPS 1330 (Wireless) and Dell Desktop Ethernet. Wireless access is 'g' with 'n' disabled as this seems to cause other problems. [internet connection speed is also c. 1.5M slower as well with V8]

Re: Wireless issues with Thomson v8 (after firmware upgrade) Updated.

Hi
I am on my second v8 router and am still having wireless upload issues with both of my macs.  Would it be possible to send me a V7?

Hi jra1234,
Try changing the encryption to WPA rather than WPA2 and see if that helps.

Hi rayzfun,
Have you tested the one we send out on the 17th?

Re: Wireless issues with Thomson v8 (after firmware upgrade) Updated.

Just to say that - after almost two weeks with my v7, things are much better.  Upload speed in particular seems very consistent....  I'm much happier.
Many thanks for the help with this.
