Thank you for the fix Matthew but your last line didn't work for me with Windows 10 on my Acer laptop: "If Windows detects network problems please ignore this and close the window."
It was only after I retyped the IP addresses, then let the Windows Network Problem program run and correct a problem, that I was able to connect with my router and all was well. (The problem was something to do with the word "Wi-Fi", but I didn't think to make a note of it. Sorry for incomplete feedback.)
