Why lower line speed forecasts on new Essentials packages?

I was thinking of changing my BB package from Value to one of the new Essentals packages, but stopped when I noticed the estimated line speed on the new packages would only be7.5MB compared to my current ~13.5MB on Value. I live within 0.5 mile of the Kingsland Green exchange (on ADSL2+) and have never had particular problems with my connection as far as speed is concerned. Does this sound normal, and can anyone offer an explanation?
Cheers.

Your speeds are unlikely to change from those you currently get despite the 'revised estimate'.

Re: Why lower line speed forecasts on new Essentials packages?

I'm sure that if you had checked your estimated line speed here before the change it would have said exactly the same. It's just the figure dragged off the BT Wholesale database and if you already have broadband it can be ignored. This question keeps cropping up!

Re: Why lower line speed forecasts on new Essentials packages?

Thanks for your comment - to clarify, I have NOT yet changed package. The data using the link you provided is reproduced below, and is different from the estimate for the new Essentails package (7.5MB) as I described above.
Phone exchange:
    KINGSLAND GREEN
Estimated line speed:
    13Mb (This may vary between 11.5Mb and 15Mb) - Checked on 2012-12-30 10:57:37
Current line speed:
    14 Mb

Re: Why lower line speed forecasts on new Essentials packages?

If you put your phone number in to here you'll see that the 7.5 is the 20CN ADSL1 figure. Plusnet get their speed estimates from BTw and they are picking up the wrong figure.

Ah yes, that explains it, I think I've seen that posted before.
