Which is right?

Hi
looking at PN my line speed says 5MB however BT Speedtester says :
IP Profile for your line is - 4.5 Mbps
Shouldnt they be the same?

Re: Which is right?

People are usually complaining about the reverse situation namely the PN profile lagging behind the BT profile. Smiley
Plusnet have control over their profile but not the BT one.

Re: Which is right?

oh right ok..
When I run download speed tests the best i'm getting is 4.3MB with an upload of 330 so the results dont match either profile? My router is in master/test socket and I'm contected via cable.
I would of thought if my router was showing a connection sync speed of 5728 I shou;ld be getting closer to the 5MB download speed not 4.3MB

Re: Which is right?

Your actual speed depends on the lower of the BT IP Profile and Plusnet Current line speed though those two values are intended to be the same. With a sync speed of 5728kbps the BT IP Profile will eventually increase to 5000kbps but on 20CN it can take 3-5 days for that change to occur.
An actual speed of 4.3Mbps is about right for your current 4.5Mbps IP Profile.

Re: Which is right?

Hi daskinner,
Your current sync is 5664Kbps, in order to get a profile of 5000Kbps you'd need to sync at over 5696Kbps.

Re: Which is right?

Thank JoJo just 32Kbps short  Angry  I've changed my filter and now I'm showing 5792 kbps  Cheesy
I'll check my BT IP in a few days to see if they have increased it to 5MB
Ive been on Samknows exchange checker and it says 21CN is due to be completed 31/3/12 so fingers crossed this will give me a few more MB's. Will I need to do anything on the 31/03/12 to switch over?

Re: Which is right?

Plusnet might not move you over immediately (it depends what else they have on at the same time) so as soon as the BT checker says you can get ADSL2 post on here and an order will be placed.
