Where is my speed?

What is happening to my speed? I'm usually stable around 10mbps on your 'superfast fiber' but for the last day or so i'm now getting:

Btw these tests are Coventry and Nottingham in the UK not the moon!  Cheesy

Re: Where is my speed?

Which exchange are you on?
Could you post the results from a BT diagnostic speed test please (point 2 in this post: http://community.plus.net/forum/index.php/topic,96155.0.html ).

Re: Where is my speed?

Hi, can't see any drops in connection from our side of things and the profile's still at 10000 here - if you could post the results of a BT speed test as Jelv says that'd help a great deal, thanks.

Re: Where is my speed?

What's your phone line like - clear with no background noise?

Re: Where is my speed?

Always worth having a wired phone handy to check the phone side of things, they're cheap and easy to have in a nearby cupboard.
Having said that though the line test I've just run did confirm a fault so I've raised it for you and passed a ticket to our faults team with the details. Hope it's sorted soon for you.

Re: Where is my speed?

I wouldn't say it's handy, I'd say it was essential! Unless you are on fibre to the premises (which you are not) the broadband depends upon the phone line and if there are problems with the phone line the broadband won't work properly.
If you have only been getting 10mbps speeds something has always been wrong. You need to get hold of a phone and check the line (dial 17070 and use option 2 - quiet line test). Old corded phones (which are the best for this test anyway) can often be found in charity shops if you can't borrow one for a short time.

Re: Where is my speed?

I'll go and buy one on friday.
You say if i'm only getting 10mbps then something has always been wrong. Plusnet say it's with limits! lol  When I was on copper I was getting 13mbps 24/7 with my old ISP (Bethere)
I shall see what comes from the raised ticket. Thanks for the help

Re: Where is my speed?

Could you put your phone number in to http://www.dslchecker.bt.com/adsl/adslchecker.welcome and see what it says for the predicted speeds on FTTC. Then use the address checker (http://www.dslchecker.bt.com/adsl/ADSLChecker.AddressOutput) and see if that agrees.
Edit: The reason I've said try both is that sometimes BT set the predicted speeds on the first one to what you are getting and not what they should be - sneaky!

Re: Where is my speed?

I didn't think they offered FTTC with a prediction that bad! Does http://www.dslchecker.bt.com/adsl/ADSLChecker.postcode say the same?

When my contract is up I think I'm going back to copper wires. I miss the extra speed 13mbps 24/7. I was swayed by ultra fast fiber... lol Cheesy

Re: Where is my speed?

That's all very, very strange! Given the speeds it's suggesting for WBC the FTTC figures make no sense. I was hoping we should be able to find out what speed you should be getting.
You'll have to see what comes back as the result of the fault Matt has raised.

Re: Where is my speed?

Still in hand at the moment, hoping for an update later today but as yet I'm afraid there's nothing. I'll check again this afternoon and post back.
