Re: Where has my speed gone?

OK Bob thanks.
I have ordered another filter just in case my #2 was also a bit iffy. I will then run the test again and report back.

Re: Where has my speed gone?

Bob.
OK, new filter and nothing else connected into main socket.
Speed test shows:
IP profile for your line is - 1500 kbps
    DSL connection rate: 448 kbps(UP-STREAM)  736 kbps(DOWN-STREAM)
Actual IP throughput achieved during the test was - 471 kbps
I am not a happy bunny Angry Angry Angry
Could you please look into this.
Thanks,
Chris.

Re: Where has my speed gone?

Hi there,
If you could possibly visit http://faults.plus.net and raise a fault, we'll then be able to investigate and raise to BT for you.

Re: Where has my speed gone?

How do you "raise a fault" via that link?

You would need to click on it and then fill in all the questions.

Re: Where has my speed gone?

So this is what I've been told:
Broadband Fault Checker - Connection checks [ Completed ]
Dear *********,
The results of our tests show no fault with your broadband connection. Completed speed tests show that your connection speed is: none found ( Huh ???)
According to BT, this speed is within the limits of acceptable performance for broadband service.
Kind Regards,
Customer Support
So what the hell does this mean?
I am not paying £22.49 a month for a service that is no better than dial up!
Over to you.

Re: Where has my speed gone?

Hi there.
That message is a horrible error in the text  from the automated faults checker. We are going to get that sorted although it should have been done long ago.
<note to self> chase this in the morning </note>
Basically ignore it for now and one of the faults guys will get back to you.
Apologies for the rubbish automated response.

Re: Where has my speed gone?

Hi there,
Further to what Mark has said, we will be getting that text changed, however all it means is that there are no BT Speedtest results showing in the database.
If you could add a comment to the ticket advising of your latest speedtest results we'll take this further for you.

Mand, are you or another staffer able to use the above to progress the fault?

I am now, and have done so, but when posting last night I wasn't in the office and didn't have access to our internal systems. Sad
Chris,
Your fault is now back with our faults team for further testing.

Re: Where has my speed gone?

Hi,
I've tried running some testsd on your line.
Could you possibly connect again for me so that I can get some test results?

Re: Where has my speed gone?

used to be on a stable 8128 connection speed then it all went down hill and has never really moved above 5500 since about feb / march.
I hope your speeds can be sorted out mine could not. I think someone from openreach may have played with my line while fixing someone elses and as a result reduced my ability of a constant sync speed.

Re: Where has my speed gone?

It's not uncommon for line quality to deteriorate, especially when new properties are built in the area, causing additional line noise, etc.
