Where has all the fibre gone?

Since I have a London postcode, I'm was expecting to be offered fibre.
However, http://maps.thinkbroadband.com/#!lat=51.6126641552618&lng=-0.21788065665590217&zoom=14&type=roadmap&... shows that I'm not just without fibre, but I that seem to be on a special low speed part of the exchange.

The red blob is the exchange.
I'm in the yellow area.  Cry Cry

Re: Where has all the fibre gone?

Don't believe what that map tells you.  When I look at my postcode it shows green all around me and we can only get 7mb max according to our line estimate (we dont even get that using speed tests)  clearly not 16 or above.

So don't feel so bad :

HI A Fox is Evil,
Your sync speed looks rather low for your attenuation, I'd have expected much more. Not sure what kit you're using or how it's set up.

Re: Where has all the fibre gone?

ignore that map ,its showing 3 villages in my area as able to get 16mbps when the exchanges havent even got adsl2 never mind cable ,you cant get over 2mbps in all 3 of them
i think they just chucked some paint on the map for the colours Smiley

My (Netgear) router is plugged directly into the test socket part of the BT NTE5 socket.
BT have been round in the past and their speeds match mine.
It's just a rotten line.  Cry

But do they have LLU options?

A Netgear DG834G (version 5, unfortunately), so I can't push the noise margin down.
PC connections are made wirelessly.

Re: Where has all the fibre gone?

According to that spreadsheet, LWMIL has ADSL2+ and FTTC - no dates given as presumably it's been around for many years or something.
I don't think it's right, as my cabinet and loads of others don't appear to have a power supply!

Re: Where has all the fibre gone?

Contractors planted a fibre cab for my area a couple of days ago and the spreadsheet says March for my exchange to have fibre.
21CN for my exchange says July 2012 Undecided

The SNR is currently 5dB so that's not the issue. Have you ever tried another router?

Re: Where has all the fibre gone?

I've had other routers, including Thomson, other Netgear and a brand that I can't remember - Dlink actually. Grin
They've all given roughly the same speed (within 0.5Mbps of each other).
The SNR varies quite a lot, at night it may go down to 3dB.

Re: Where has all the fibre gone?

Were those routers while you were on 21CN?
