Does any one know why ,was there some planned maintenance work or a big failure?
As firstly i was kicked off the GW i was on or it went off-line, my router re connected to a different GW and a tracert was only showing plusnet's network,
Nothing was pingable outside it, for several minutes, eventually full connectivity was restored, but there seems to be an increase in hops to almost every destination was this intended?
i just checked the status page http://usertools.plus.net/status/archive/1370446687.htm that explains only part of it, although i connected to several GW's i could not access further than plusnet's network (icmp failed, as did http )

It seems you were disconnected due to the maintenance on the early hours of this morning.
It looks like your connection made a few attempts to connect and then disconnected again for a few minutes;
<img src="http://ccgi.psmith12.plus.com/visradius/generated/image13705122906927.png"/>
There were no issues reported, how long did it last for?
You may have been effected by maintenance too.

My connection got disconnected for 2 hours between 2 & 4.30am - I can see from my log it wasn't a local power failure at my house as the router wasn't power cycled.
In my case I can see for 2 hours failure to authenticate:

There was quite a bit of maintenance last night that would probably been the cause of this.

Downtime was probably around 15-20 mins It was the not being able to connect to the WWW after hopping on a few GW's that caused me concern.
I'm currently on GW pcl-ag06 and the number of internal hops ,or what look like internal hops has increased
before routing to if-5-2.tcore1.W6C-Montreal.as6453.net was 14hops it's now 17 hops and to 208-64-202-68.valve.net old value was 19 hops now 21
pingbox1.thinkbroadband.com was 7hops is now 9

It can happen where you see increased hops on different gateways, you can be connected to a gateway at City lifeline and the peering is in Telehouse which could see an increase.
if you're connected to a Telehouse gateway then you're closer to the peering link.
